App Description and Use
Redlight Traffic Cam Alert is a driver-awareness app designed to display verified red-light enforcement camera locations and, when Premium or trial access is active, warn the user when approaching a verified camera location.
What the map shows
Verified red-light enforcement intersections are shown as red markers. Tapping a marker can display intersection details and the verified approach information available in the Saki Logic camera database. Where citation information has been independently verified, the app may also display the amount and source; otherwise the app identifies that information as not currently verified.
Free Static Map
The free mode is designed for manual map browsing. On first use, the map opens zoomed out over the central United States rather than assuming the user is in any particular state. The user can pan and zoom manually, and the app remembers the last static-map position so the next free-map session returns to the same area. Free Static Map does not provide automatic location following or active proximity alerts.
3-day Premium trial
The current Android design includes a three-day trial so a user can evaluate Premium mapping and active alerts without entering payment information for the trial itself. After the trial ends, the app returns to the free static-map experience unless a valid Premium subscription is active.
Premium Mapping & Active Alerts
Premium enables location-aware map following and active approach monitoring. When the app determines that the device is approaching a verified camera location within the selected warning distance, the enabled alert outputs can activate. The app is designed to issue one warning for an approach event and not repeatedly warn simply because the vehicle continues to move closer; the approach resets only after the device has moved sufficiently away.
Alert options
Voice
Spoken alerts are enabled by default. The user can select the alert language while the phone's normal text-to-speech voice for that language is used.
Vibrate
Vibration is enabled by default. The user can select one, two or three vibration pulses.
Chime
Chime is optional and starts off. When enabled, Android opens the phone's standard notification/ringtone tone picker so the user can choose an available device tone or a user-added tone recognized by Android.
Screen pulse
Screen pulse is optional and starts off. If enabled, the app asks whether the user wants red warning pulses to appear over the screen currently being displayed. Android's separate “Display over other apps” permission is required for this feature. The user can select one, two or three pulses.
Warning distance
The warning distance can be changed in Settings. The selected distance controls when an active approach alert becomes eligible to trigger. GPS accuracy, device settings, background behavior, connectivity and database availability can affect timing.
Permissions
Precise location is needed for Premium/trial distance monitoring and map following. Notification permission allows the app to provide warning and monitoring notifications. Screen pulse uses Android's separate overlay permission only if the user chooses that optional feature.
Camera-data verification
Saki Logic's design goal is to distinguish verified red-light enforcement cameras from ordinary traffic-monitoring cameras. Camera programs can be added, removed, suspended or changed by local governments, so coverage varies by jurisdiction and can change over time. The absence of a marker or alert should never be interpreted as permission to disregard a traffic signal.
Subscription management
Premium subscriptions purchased through Google Play renew according to the billing terms shown by Google Play until canceled. Subscription changes and cancellation are handled through Google Play rather than inside the app.
Safe use
- Set warning distance, sound choices and permissions before driving.
- Do not pan the map, change settings or interact with the phone while driving.
- Obey all traffic laws whether or not the app displays a camera or produces an alert.
- Treat every alert as supplemental driver-awareness information only.
